If you’re looking for homes in Lenox, take a walk at Mass Audubon’s Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Trails wind through over 1,000 acres along the slopes of Lenox Mountain. For an easy hike of about one hour, take the Yokun/Beaver Lodge Trails Loop. You might see some beaver activity along the way.
If you’re up for a challenge, take the Trail of the Ledges/Overbrook Loop to the top of Lenox Mountain. After an 850-foot vertical climb, you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views of the Catskill Mountains and the Taconic Range.

As you look for upper Hudson Valley real estate, don’t pass up the opportunity to take a day hike at one of the area’s many conservation areas and state forests.
A 1.4-mile hike at the High Falls Conservation Area in Claverack will lead you to the highest waterfall in Columbia County. AllTrails.com rates this as a moderately challenging route with a few steep climbs. Hikers describe the view of the waterfall as breathtaking.
High Falls is one of the properties owned by the Columbia Land Conservancy. Another CLC property that might be of interest to homebuyers looking in Hudson is the Greenport Conservation Area. With 8 miles of trails, Greenport is known for its scenic vistas of the Hudson River and Catskills.
