Welcome to Chatham

Located in the northern part of Columbia County, Chatham is home to about 4,000 residents spread out over no less than five villages: Chatham Village, North Chatham, Malden Bridge, East Chatham, and Old Chatham. Founded in 1795, Chatham's earliest population were Dutch settlers. Chatham is small, but its residents live large with amenities like eclectic, independently-owned stores and year-round festivals and cultural events.

Chatham Farmer and Maker’s Market
 
  • Running seasonally every Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 PM, the Chatham Farmer and Maker’s Market welcomes area residents to its location in Crellin Park. Locals can find fresh produce, homemade jams, artisinal cocktails, pop-up restaurants, and live music.
Chatham Central School District
 
  • Chatham Central School District consists of one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school.
  • All schools are located the Woodbridge Avenue campus.
  • The district serves an enrollment of about 1,000 students.
Chatham Public Library
 
  • One of only two public libraries in New York State located in a school district, Chatham Public Library is operated by the Chatham Central School District.
  • The library is located next to Chatham Middle School.
  • Designed in the Beaux Arts style and opened in 1905, the library features a stained glass window by Tiffany.
Columbia Land Conservancy
 
  • Headquartered in Chatham.
  • Their work has conserved more than 30,000 acres of forests, farmland, and wildlife habitats.

Crandell Theatre

Mac-Haydn Theatre
