Cheshire Reservoir (Hoosac Lake)

This large, dammed portion of the Hoosic River is the focal point for water activities, offering boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities with public access points and boat launches.

Ashuwillticook Rail Trail

The roughly 13-mile paved, multi-use trail connects Cheshire to the towns of Lanesborough and Adams, running along the lake and river. It is immensely popular for cycling, running, and cross-country skiing.

Mount Greylock State Reservation

Portions of the state's highest mountain fall within Cheshire's town limits, providing access to extensive hiking trails, including the Cheshire Harbor Trail, and the scenic Appalachian Trail which passes directly through the town center. Cheshire is an officially designated Appalachian Trail Community.

Historic Mammoth Cheese Monument

The town commemorates its unique history with a monument to the 1,235-pound cheese they manufactured and sent to President Thomas Jefferson in Washington, D.C., in 1802.

Farnams Village Historic District

  • This historic section of town was once a mining village, known for lime and silica production from the 19th to mid-20th century. Architectural remnants include Greek Revival and Gothic style buildings.
