Welcome to Gallatin

Gallatin is a small town with a population of about 1,600 residents. Rural in character, the town is home to a range of agricultural, timber, services and technology-related businesses and professionals. Gallatin sits along the southern border of Columbia County. The Taconic State Parkway bisects the community.

Gallatin Conservation Area
 
  • This 26-acre site extends along a quarter-mile stretch of the Roeliff Jansen Kill.

Lake Taghkanic State Park
 
  • State park with over 1,500 acres and featuring a swimming beach, picnic areas, boat launch sites, rowboat, paddleboat and kayak rentals, and more.
Harlem Valley Rail Trail
 
  • This 46-mile rail trail in the Harlem Valley and Taconic Hills extends from Wassaic to Copake Falls.
  • Residents of Gallatin can drive to and park along rail trail access points.
