About 1,450 people live in the small, community-minded town of New Marlborough. Settled in 1758 and incorporated in 1759, this small town prides itself on the unique character of its five villages: Clayton, Hartsville, Mill River, Southfield, and New Marlborough Village. New Marlborough is a rural, residential community where residents can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Berkshires within and surrounding the town's borders. New Marlborough owes many of its community amenities to town residents who got behind a wide range of causes, from civic participation to environmental preservation to cultural enrichment.

Community Resources and Amenities
- Created and published by a volunteer staff, the New Marlborough 5 Village News is a free monthly newspaper that is also available in digital form.
- Past issues can be accessed online, providing an essential source of community news and encouraging an increased level of participation in town events and issues.
- The work of the New Marlborough Cultural Council results in annual celebrations and events like the Elihu Burritt Day, held in memory of a 1800s-era town resident who became known for his work in the 19th-century international peace movement.
- Held every September, the townwide celebration features historical reenactments, an antique car show, a 5K race, and a host of family events.
- The New Marlborough Town Library provides a town gathering place for meetings, classes, book clubs, and children's story hours and play groups.
Southern Berkshire Regional School District
- New Marlborough belongs to the Southern Berkshire Regional School District, which also serves the southern Berkshire towns of Alford, Egremont, Monterey, and Sheffield.
- Only one school in the district is located in New Marlborough. New Marlborough Central School in Mill River serves pre-K through grade 4.
- Middle and high school students in the district attend Mount Everett Regional School in nearby Sheffield. U.S. News and World Report ranked the school on its list of Best High Schools for 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2013.
The Farm New Marlborough
- Located on the grounds of the former Kolburne School, the Farm New Marlborough offers residents locally-grown and raised foods distributed in area retail stores and markets.
- Founded as a new venture in 2017, the Farm New Marlborough embraces a mission of returning New Marlborough to its agricultural roots.
Health Care Resources
- Fairview Hospital is located about 30 minutes from New Marlborough. Part of Berkshire Health Systems, Fairview provides primary acute care plus a full array of medical services, general surgery, and orthopedic and maternity care.
- Berkshire Health Systems is headquartered in Pittsfield and serves as the region's leading provider of comprehensive health care services.
- Located an hour's drive from New Marlborough, Berkshire Medical Center maintains a 307-bed hospital. BMC has won honors from the American Heart Association, American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and the American College of Radiology for its high level of patient care and services.
Recreation and Culture
- Founded in 1976 by eight town residents committed to protecting New Marlborough's natural resources, the New Marlborough Land Trust maintains multiple properties encompassing some 885 acres across the community.
- New Marlborough Land Trust preserves include Joffe Nature Sanctuary, New Marlborough Preserve, Lower Carroll Mill, Goodnow Preserve, and Thousand Acre Swamp. Each area offers trails and such unique features as a suspension rope footbridge.
- New Marlborough is home to one of the prettiest waterfalls in Massachusetts. Only New Marlborough town residents are permitted to visit Umpachene Falls Park, where a series of spring-fed waterfalls creates a swimming hole at this charming town park.
- Park facilities include picnic tables and swings.
New Marlborough Village Association
- Formed in 1972 to promote cultural events and programs in New Marlborough and nearby communities, New Marlborough Village Association sponsors such as events as Music and More and art exhibits at New Marlborough Village's historic Meeting House.
- Located on the New Marlborough Village green, the Meeting House is a Greek Revival building now restored to its former glory thanks to the efforts of the volunteer-driven New Marlborough Village Association.
